To address the challenge of access of clean water in some villages in Thaba-Tseka, the Chinese Embassy has funded the protection of some identified springs in two villages of the district.
According to Thaba-Tseka District administrator Mr. ‘Muso Jane, he was approached by the communities in the areas of Phaila – Khorong and Ponts’eng, asking for help as they struggle to access clean drinking water. He said the five villages of Liphookoaneeng, Phomolong, Sekiring, Ha Phaila Khorong and Pontseng rely on spring wells which have never been protected and that puts the communities at the risk of catching water borne disease.
Mr. Jane said since his office could not help in anyway, they approached the Chinese Embassy which agreed to help, saying the work to protect the springs began at Khorong Ha Phaila and Ponts’eng yesterday. The Chinese Embassy has approved M110,000.00 to commence with the work.
