The opposition parties have submitted a proposition of a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister and the government to the office of the Speaker of Parliament.
Democratic Congress (DC) National Chairperson, Hon. Motlalentoa Letsosa has confirmed that a proposition has been forwarded to the Speaker’s office on Thursday, citing Hon. Mathibeli Mokhothu, DC Deputy Party Leader as their preferred candidate for the position of a Prime Minister.
Letsosa noted that they hope the motion will pass at the opening of Parliament which he could not say when that will be, but said a secret ballot is preferable as some of those in support of the motion are in the government.
He said the move has been triggered by the arrest of opposition party’s members and the fact that the government has ordered the police to assault suspects which he said is unlawful and is planned to instill fear in people who are anti-government.
