Court Prosecutor Speaks on Common Theft and Assault Crimes

Maseru Magistrate court prosecutor Mrs. ‘Mateboho Masupha says common theft and assault are the most rampant crimes they normally deal with in their day to day work at the court.

Masupha said other criminal offenses they come across include malicious damage to property and contempt of court. She explained that common theft that seems to be rampant could be due to the high rate of unemployment as perpetrators tend to be unemployed youth.

Masupa therefore explained that it is important for Basotho to abide by the law to avoid convictions, appealing to youth to refrain from the use of alcohol and substance abuse which influence them to engage in immoral behavior.
