The government through the ministry of Education and Training says the picketing act expected to be done by teachers on Thursday is unlawful and legal measures will be taken against those who will take part.
Rapapa says the government is appealing to all teachers and school principals not to be part of this picketing by teachers unions namely LTTU, LAT and LESPA.
He said his ministry and the office of the government secretary had numerous meetings with teachers’ unions to deliver government’s achievements and preparations in resolving their grievances.
He also said they agreed amongst others to establish teacher’s career and salary structure committee represented by all teachers’ unions and to review of the amendment that governs the promotion of teachers using their academic certificates.
He said the government has decided to review teachers program in August and September 2018 in all schools to verify the list of teachers, contracts and their national identity cards.
