Hae Lesotho Movement, which aims to transform the economy of Lesotho for the good of Basotho, says it is expecting a response to its letter of petition on or before 31st this month, which was handed over to the office of the deputy prime minister, the ministry of Agriculture, Trade and Small businesses this week, over a complete ban importation of three main commodities namely cabbage, potatoes and spinach effective from 1st January 2019.

From the Agriculture task force Bakoena Pheko indicated that according to the 2015 Bureau of Statistics report, per month the country import M3 million worth potatoes, cabbage of M1.5 million, spinach amounting to M100 000.

Pheko further showed that the country is importing more than 130 vegetable commodities totaling to M20 million per month. The movement has emphasized that the proposed ban is the right step in the right direction for Lesotho and Basotho.
