The Ministry of Public Works and Transport which has been tasked with the responsibility to demolish the ailing Queen Elizabeth II Hospital is ready to do so.
Mr. Mothabathe Hlalele, The Principal Secretary (PS) in the said Ministry explained that while the initiative is supported and funded by the Peoples Republic of China that will also work with other entities under their auspices, the entire work of demolishing lies with the Ministry.
Additionally, he mentioned that the three local joint ventures shall carry out the work which has been divided into three lots. The first lot will be the actual demolishing followed by re-roofing while the last portion will be cleaning for final construction.
On when to start the work, Mr. Hlalele said his Ministry is ready to undertake the work except they are only awaiting the client Ministry of Health to vacate and give them the go ahead.
