Members of Parliament have on Monday bowed to the Development for Peace Education (DPE) after the latter petitioned the parliament to allow passage of the motion to suspend standing order No. 52 (7) that was to be moved by Popular Front for Democracy (PFD) leader Advocate Lekhetho Rakuoane.

This standing order would allow the members to discuss the 9th Amendment to the constitution Bill, 2019 without having first to be referred to the Law and Public Safety committee before it could be debated by the members.

However, DPE wrote a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly, saying it was aware that the national assembly was set to embark on the deliberations over 9th amendment to the constitution and that the same will be preceded by the suspension of the Standing Order No. 52 (7) which would otherwise subject the bill to the relevant portfolio committee.
