The Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Paseka Mokete yesterday appeared before the Maseru Magistrate’s Court charged with sexual offence, assault and malicious damage to property.

On the first count, it is alleged that on the 29th of April at the National Assembly in Maseru, the accused unlawfully touched the buttocks of his female colleague in the rank of Inspector without her consent.

It is further alleged on an alternative charge that on the same day and at the same place, the accused assaulted the same complainant by applying force to her by pulling and dragging her on the ground.

On count two, it is alleged that the accused on the same day and at the same place, unlawfully tore a pair of trousers belonging to the same complainant.

Mokete was released on free bail on condition that he attends remands, stands trial to finality and does not interfere with crown witnesses.

Mokete is expected back in court next Friday. Investigations in the matter are ongoing.
