The Minister of Justice and Law, Professor Nqosa Mahao says the government is in the process to ensure that correctional institutions produce own food and uniform for staff members and inmates
He said this during his familiarization visit at Mohale’s Hoek Correctional Institution when responding to challenges experienced by the Correctional staff and the inmates.
Prof. Mahao said that his ministry has in the past two weeks received two tractors from the Ministry of Agriculture to enable Lesotho Correctional Institutions to embark in food production in order to address the problem of hunger currently experienced by the inmates.
He said the move will help to improve nutrition and health status among the inmates and as well revive the image and dignity of the institutions.
Professor Mahao also said preparations are continuing to allow the correctional institutions to utilize skills they have and produce uniform for own staff and the inmates.
