PM Launches Lesotho Academy of Science and Technology (LAST)

Prime Minister Dr.Moeketsi Majoro says it is evident that science should play a critical role for evidence-based policy making during pandemics and beyond.

Dr. Majoro said this during the official launch of the Lesotho Academy of Science and Technology-LAST that was held in Maseru today, saying it is quite important as this launch comes at a time when Lesotho and many other countries have been hit-hard by COVID-19. He said science, technology and innovation are the present and the future saying working with organized scientists in an academy of science is a way to go in this modern world.

Dr. Majoro indicated that as the government they fully pledge their support to LAST to ensure that it carries out its activities and also link with other government ministries and departments that are beneficiaries of science.

Plans to create the academy started in 2017 while the idea was discussed and approved by the Southern African Development Community-SADC ministers responsible for science and technology.
