Hassan gave a brief address after she was sworn-in last Friday where she said this is a time to bury their differences, and be one as a nation and that it is not a time for finger pointing, but it is a time to hold hands and move forward together.
Meanwhile United States Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday congratulated Hassan, the first woman to hold that office in Tanzania, and said the US was ready to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Hassan is the first female head of state in the country of 58 million.
