The Sub Committee of Cabinet ministers has urged the trade unions and factory workers to refrain from on-going illegal protests to allow for the negotiations.
The sub-committee has indicated in its press statement that it had a meeting with the Ministry of Labour and Employment for fact finding mission on Monday, which resulted in a number of recommendations tabled before the Cabinet yesterday.
It said it was having a meeting with the Employers’ Organisations and Trade Unions today, to discuss Cabinet’s decision on the matter and to find a lasting solution.
The factory workers’ strike has been on-going since last Friday in which they are demanding a 20 percent wage increase after getting a zero increase the previous year.
