The Consumer Protection Association’s Chairperson Mr. Khoabane Khalema has warned consumers to be more cautious when spending money this festive season, in order to avoid overspending.
Khalema said consumers should remember that the world is still fighting the spread of corona virus pandemic, hence the need to be careful of how they spend money on their shopping.
He also warned them to avoid buying unnecessary goods and products as well as exchanging money with unknown people outside the shops.
He concluded by appealing to retailers against using misleading advertising tactics to lure consumers, saying that the Consumer Protection Act prohibits all suppliers to market goods or services in a manner that is misleading, fraudulent or deceptive.
