Police have discovered two corpses after the taxi they were travelling in was washed-away by heavy rains at Makhaleng River.
Maseru District Administrator Mr. Mpane Nthunya said, the corpses are of man and a woman and that the taxi had 7 passengers including a child. Nthunya said police are continuing with their operation to rescue the other three remaining passengers.
He said it is reported that the other female passenger had been quarrelling with the driver, not to cross the over flowing river, after which she left with the baby. It is also reported that the vehicle was not able to move, and as a result got washed-away.
Following heavy rains between January and February this year, the bridges at the same river have also been washed away. Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Authority says it is still waiting for an official report after which it will take necessary measures.
