The Office of the Prime Minister has issued a statement rebuking the suspension of fuel benefits of Former Deputy Prime Minister and also a Member of Parliament for Mahobong constituency Mr. Mothejoa Metsing.

This follows the letter which was issued earlier on Tuesday by the Principal Secretary-Cabinet Administration Dr. Kamoho Matlama to the Managing Director of Engen Lesotho, to suspend fuel benefits of Mr. Metsing.

According to the statement signed by Prime Minister’s Press Attache Mr. Buda Moseme, such purported suspension is null and void thus Mr. Metsing will continue to enjoy his full benefits as permitted by law, adding that the office regrets the anxiety this blunder has caused.

On the other hand Lesotho Congress for Democracy’s Secretary General Mr. Teboho Sekata confirmed that, they received the letter suspending Metsing’s fuel benefits on Tuesday, and that later on the same day ,they received another from PM’s office rebuking such suspension.

He added that they cannot comment on the matter, only saying that they will just watch as events unfold.
