Community Policing Committees under the supervision of Mabote Police Station will start visiting schools and churches as part of efforts to combat crime.
The Chairperson of Mabote Community Policing Committees Mr. Habofanoe Letsie said, this follows realization that most youth continue joining gang groups in villages and schools.
Letsie said they had received reports that some students fear to go to school because they are bullied by those gang groups, and as a result their studies are affected.
He singled out a case where a few days ago, a woman was raped and murdered by a 19-year-old boy at Tsénola, emphasizing a need to root out crime amongst the youth.
He added that, the intention is also to inform congregants about crime and discuss how they could work jointly to combat it through prayers.
The initiative is supported by the Lesotho Mounted Police Services and Lesotho Electricity Company with vehicles.
