The national COVID-19 Secretariat–NACOSEC is currently in talks with the Ministry of Education and Training regarding rotation of classes in schools.

NACOSEC’s Chief Executive Officer Operational Support, Mr. Thabo Ntoi says, an announcement will be made once they have completed how schools will operate now that the country has relaxed COVID-19 restrictions.

He said they have heard that people are wondering how the government lifted certain restrictions such as operation of businesses, entertainment and gatherings yet schools are still operating rotationally.

He said this is because not all students are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines and as thus, they have to ensure protection of all students against the disease.

Meanwhile, Ntoi said although initiation schools are re-opened, NACOSEC, Principal Chiefs and Initiations schools’ owners will meet this month to discuss how they will operate to ensure that COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed.
