The Ministry of Social Development will pay the first batch of disability grants to 222 beneficiaries in Leribe and Botha-Bothe from next week.

The Ministry’s Senior Information Education and Communication Officer Mrs. Mpho Makhetha said these payments follow social and medical assessments which beneficiaries undergone last year.

Makhetha said the disability grant for adults, care dependency grant for children and temporary grant will be M400.00 while grant-in aid for adults in need of regular attendance will be M150.00.She also said that data collection and social assessment have been completed in the districts of Thaba-Tseka, Mohale’s Hoek and Quthing, indicating that the medical assessment was carried out by doctors from the Ministry of Health.

Makhetha stated that once the assessment exercise has been completed throughout the country, all the beneficiaries will receive their disability grant.
