The G4S Security company’s employees who are members of the Lesotho Workers association-LEWA, will go on strike starting this Thursday, after the association and the company’s salary negotiations reached a deadlock.

LEWA’s Secretary General Mr. Hlalefang Seoaholimo said, both the association and the G4S Security’s representatives reached a deadlock on salary increment as well as employees’ provident fund.

Seoaholimo said, as representatives of the workers, they were demanding a 13 percent annual increase across the board, as well as provision of provident fund which he claimed is only given to the senior management of the company but not the rest of the employees.

He however said the company was not prepared to meet their demands, citing the COVID-19 pandemic as the main reason behind not meeting their demands.

Seoaholimo said this will be a legal strike as they have written to the employer, giving them a seven-day notice of the intention to embark on a strike.
