Berea Disaster Management Authority says, hazard identification and risk assessment plays a crucial role in developing mitigation strategies of the impact of any potential disaster.
This was said by the District Disaster Management’s Officer Mr. Hlomohang Matjopile during an ongoing capacity building training on Disaster Risk Reduction held for both new and old members of Berea District Disaster Management Team.
Matjopile said whenever disaster strikes, the vulnerable are usually the most affected, hence their efforts to capacitate the Team on Disaster risk reduction, so that they can impart their knowledge to vulnerable communities.
He said they intent to reach out to the most remote areas of the country, to make people aware that disaster risk reduction, is everyone’s responsibility.
