Department of Forestry in the Ministry of Forestry, Ranges and Soil Conservation will embark on construction of silt traps to respond to the effects of a landslide that occurred at Thaba Nts’o in Mokhotlong starting today

Department of Forestry in the Ministry of Forestry, Ranges and Soil Conservation will embark on construction of silt traps to respond to the effects of a landslide that occurred at Thaba Nts’o in Mokhotlong starting today.

The Acting District Forestry Coordinator Mr. Sekants’i Pekile said, besides construction of silt traps, grass will also be planted adding that the developed area will have to be reserved for at least three years without livestock grazing in that area.

 

Pekile explained that they will demonstrate to Thaba Nts’o community how silt traps are constructed and also provide  supervision as they are the ones who will do the work

 

A while back, the Community Councilor for Masaleng Mr. Bakang Lesala reported that, about 20 graves were affected by a landslide that was caused by heavy rains
