The Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum -SADC-PF held a two-day workshop to capacitate Members of Parliament on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and the democratic drive through parliamentary interventions having legislative, budgetary, oversight and representative value for SADC citizens and communities in Southern Africa.

The Chairperson of the Social Cluster Portfolio Committee Mr. Fako Moshoeshoe said, they are now aware that everyone has rights, including key populations such as sex workers and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people (LGBTI).

Fako noted that, the Parliamentary Social Cluster Portfolio Committee intends to ensure that the health sector gets a substantive budget to enable universal health access and get to zero, new HIV infections by 2030.

Narrating the roles of MP’s in ensuring policy development, Mrs. Tsépang Tsíta-Mosena said, it is important to give this group of people respect, power and confidence on issues that affect them, so that they can be open to talk about them.
