The Minister of Finance Mr. Thabo Sofonea says in the 2022/2023 financial year, they have proposed construction of a footbridge that will connect Ha Kou to Ha Motau in Thaba Tseka.

Sofonea said government will construct 11 additional footbridges in Mohale’s Hoek, Maseru, Mokhotlong, Thaba Tseka and Quthing.

He said the country recently experienced devastating floods which destroyed roads and footbridges that connect villages in the remote areas of the country.

Meanwhile, Chief Poopa Mahao from Ha Poopa said it would be a great move to connect the two villages as there has been a challenge for people living at Ha Kou to cross the Mantsónyane River to Ha Motau when it rained.

Besides being unable to cross the river, he said no access road connects the two villages saying they only rely on horses as their only mode of transport.

He therefore pleaded with the government, to keep fulfil its promise as there has been a lot of such, that have all failed.
