Al Jazeera Media Network has assigned a legal team to refer the killing of its journalist Shireen Abu Akleh to the International Criminal Court -ICC.
Al Jazeera said in a statement that, it has formed an international team of its legal team along with international experts, and is preparing a dossier on the murder of Abu Akleh for submission to the ICC prosecutor.
Ii said it will also include the Israeli bombing of its office in Gaza last month. Abu Akleh was shot dead by Israel forces on the 11th of this month near the Jenin refugee camp.
Al Jazeera therefore said, killing or physical assault on journalists working in war zones is a crime under Article 8 of the International Criminal Court’s charter.
