The Minister of Small Business, Cooperatives and Marketing Mr. Machesetsa Mofomobe has promised to deal with informal trader’s grievances during a public gathering held at Pitso Ground in Maseru yesterday.
Mofomobe among others things promised that he will ensure that businesses which should be rightfully owned by Basotho return to them and blamed previous governments for providing the Chinese nationals with naturalization.
He indicated that he will ensure that small business licenses are issued by the Ministry of Small Business, Cooperatives and Marketing. He further indicated that on Monday next week, he together with the Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship will commence a countrywide journey starting from Mokhotlong where they will identify areas where decent and lockable shelters will be built for the informal traders.
He pointed out that his Ministry is not responsible for payments of COVID-19 Relief Fund, which for informal traders are complaining that majority of them have not yet received. He said they should approach the Office of the Prime Minister for these payments
