Basotho National Party’s leader Mr. Machesetsa Mofomobe says they will set a retirement age for chiefs and introduce pension benefits for them, should his party be voted into power.

Mofomobe said chiefs play a crucial role in governance yet they are poorly looked after by the government, where in most cases they fail to perform their duties adequately due to lack of resources

He said although chiefs still earn monthly salaries, they are not pensionable, hence the need to make them pensionable.

He also said BNP believes strongly in preserving and protecting the monarchy and religion and aims to promote issues of heritage, job creation, rule of law, youth empowerment, quality education and strong governance other among others.
