Lesotho Mounted Police Services and the Ministry of Health have appealed to Basotho to donate blood and to encourage others to donate.

Senior Inspector Phethisang Luka said they have joined forces with the Blood Transfusion Services- LBTS, to help create awareness about safe blood transfusions. Snr Insp. Luka said it is everyone’s responsibility to donate blood and save lives.

LBTS’ Manager Mrs. ‘Maleqhoa Nyopa commended LMPS for heeding their call to donate blood and also help in the initiative to help educate the public about blood donation. Nyopa said blood donation is still a major challenge in the country as people lack knowledge on the importance of donating blood which has resulted in the scarcity of blood donors.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr ‘Mopa Tsiu said LMPS is committed to helping LBTS as it is their responsibility to protect the public. ACP Tsiu said Basotho should educate themselves about blood donation and that blood donation should become the new norm.
