Some African leaders have taken to social media to congratulate and express their well wishes for Kenyan President-elect William Ruto.

Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance obtained about seven-million votes and defeated Raila Odinga-the long-time leader of opposition party Azimio La Umoja who managed to secure over six-million votes.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he has no doubt that Ruto will serve his country well and the entire continent with sheer distinction.

Leaders from Malawi, Ethiopia and Somalia also congratulated Ruto saying they are looking forward to strengthening bilateral ties with Kenya.

Meanwhile, one of the four members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Francis Wanderi rejected the election results saying they were not part of the final report of results tally.
