Qacha’s Nek district administrator Mr. Mantsi Tseane says children have rights which should be protected at all times.

Tseane said unemployment makes it difficult for parents to provide children with all their basic needs mentioning that protection of the rights of children in various villages in Qacha’s Nek is often obstructed by lack of developments.

A school principal at Qhoboshaneng Primary School Mr. Seema Puseletso said lack of classrooms at the school which serves four villages is an obstacle in the protection of the right to education for the children in Melikane.

Puseletso also said free primary education which was introduced in the country is no longer free as children are no longer provided with stationery and because of poverty and unemployment, parents are unable to provide for their children.
