Some parties say they are ready to comply with the Independent Electoral commission’s request to submit declaration register of paid-up membership for the current year.
The Movement For Economic Change’s General Secretary Mr. Napo Moshoeshoe noted that submitting a list of paid-up membership is an easy task because the party already has internal documents that have this information while on the other hand, Public Relations Officer for Basotho Covenant Movement-BCM, Reverend Kenneth Matee indicated that his party encountered a huge challenge during the past General Elections, where the names of some of its members were not in the voters roll and as a result they could not vote. Rev. Matee said as the result of this, they are no longer sure as to how many paid-up members the party has.
On the other hand, Democratic Congress’ Executive Secretary Mr. Tsie Sekoere said that the party is ready to comply with IEC’s request, as it closed its membership renewals at the end of November last year
