The Mafeteng Magistrate Court has sentenced a 32 year-old Konota Semoli of Ha Semoli to three years’ imprisonment or pay a fine of M3,000.00 for illegal possession of a firearm.

According to the evidence led before court the convict was arrested at his home Ha Semoli following information provided by the community that the convict is in possession of an illegal firearm.

It stated that the convict was convicted after failing to produce legal documents allowing him to possess a 9mm Astra shot pistol and five bullets.

He pleaded guilty as charged and in mitigation, asked for leniency because he intentionally bought the gun to protect his family’s livestock.
