Teachers’ unions have acknowledged a decline in 2022 Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education’s results, and attributed that to a lot of issues including government’s failure to pay attention to education.
Lesotho Association of Teachers’ Secretary General Mr. Letsatsi Ntsibolane said the results are a true reflection of the attention the government of Lesotho gives to education sector.
Ntsibolane said that for years, government has failed to address problems facing this sector despite teachers’ recommendations and suggestions on what could be done to improve Lesotho’s education system.
He noted that amongst others the government needs to hire more teachers for this new curriculum to be efficiently and effectively implemented.
Lesotho Principal Association’s president Mr. Mathafeng Moteuli said students’ performance has declined compared to the previous year’s mentioning that candidates were affected by numerous issues which included parents losing their jobs due to COVID-19.
