The minister in the Prime Minister’s office paid a visit to the victims of floods following heavy rains at Matukeng in Leribe last Friday.
Addressing the villagers Mr. Limpho Tau expressed his gratitude to Disaster Management Authority-DMA, Lesotho Red Cross Society and World Vision Lesotho for responding immediately to this disaster.
Tau noted that they continue working together in responding to disasters saying, they will also be given an opportunity to have a say in the amendment of DMA’s Act of 1997, as the act is outdated
Referring to climate change, he said the effects of climate change are evident, as witnessed by heavy rains that cause disasters.
A Member of Parliament for Tsikoane constituency Mr. Malefane Mabote also said they appreciate the swift response from these organizations.
