At least 800 people will be trained countrywide starting from next month until the end of this year, on drought’s early action protocols project.
According to the project manager Ms. Sbongile Hlubi from the Lesotho Red Cross, the first phase which consists of capacity building will be followed by monitoring of weather forecast by Lesotho Meteorological Services.
Hlubi revealed that Lesotho has national documents that show that there is a return period of drought every year and that these extreme drought conditions, require prompt interventions to reduce human suffering and loss of livelihoods.
