The Maseru magistrate court has cautioned the accused persons in a case that involves M39 million maloti of the government of Lesotho, not to interfere with state witnesses and stand trial to its finality.
This order was granted by Magistrate Peter Murenzi this morning where two former Principal Secretaries of the Ministry of Local Government, the Chief Accounting Officer of Disaster Management Authority, some local contractors as well as construction companies are accused of false representation in that they represented to officers of local government and Disaster Management Authority that Kypros Engineering PTY Ltd, was engaged to offer consulting services to the Lesotho government.
According to the charge sheet, this act led to where the government lost thirty-nine million, nine hundred and fifty thousand, one hundred and fifty-nine and thirty lisente between January 2021 and December 2022.
Meanwhile, the accused have also been granted bail to the tune of M20, 000.00.
