The minister of finance Dr Retselisitsoe Matlanyane has officially launched the e-taxation and e-filling platform for the Revenue Services Lesotho with the support of Vodacom financial services.
Speaking at the launch in Maseru earlier today Dr Matlanyane said, this system comes at the right time when the world is moving into the fourth industrial revolution that is fueled by globalization. She said with the support of the African bank, they were able to begin their transition from traditional methods of tax collection and filling, to this method that is going to ensure compliance. She further said the system will ease cooperation between RSL and the business community.
On behalf of Vodacom Lesotho Mrs Mpho Mosotho said, they are glad to have partnered with RSL on this remarkable journey which will help thousands of Basotho to pay their taxes on time. Mosotho said they are proud partners of Basotho who are determined to contribute to the economy of this country.
On behalf of the beneficiaries of the system Mr. Boipuso Atontsi-Regional Manager of Shoprite and Usave supermarket Lesotho said, the system is going to help them as it will reduce the costs of filling, limiting of paperwork and reduction of time taken to fill or pay taxes. He thanked RSL for taking this step towards digitization of services.
