Voter education conducted by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) at Makhoarane Community Council in Matsieng, is said to be moving at a snail’s pace.
This has been said by the Constituency Electoral Assistant, Mr. Tokollo Naleli who noted that since the 01st of this month when they intensified voter registration, only three new voters showed up at Makhoarane.
Mr. Naleli said there could be many factors attributed to this challenge, saying many people still have a tendency that coming from the National Elections, some people do not see any reason for Local Government elections.
Therefore, he appealed to Basotho to visit registration centres to register and to verify their names on the voters roll.
IEC is preparing for Local Government elections which are scheduled for later this year.
