Lectures at the National University of Lesotho are set to resume on Monday next week. NUL’s Senate suspended classes on Monday last week due to students’ strike

The President of the Students’ Representative Council Tumo Tsanyane said, the decision was reached during a meeting with the Senate. Tsanyane said, the Senate will be called to discuss the recovery plan however, as the SRC, they do not support weekend classes without consultation with the Students’ Union.

He said that, they have been informed that 5,946 students have been registered while the National Manpower Development Secretariat has cleared 2,857 of returning students.

He however indicated that, about 422 students have not yet registered but their registration is being fast tracked.

Besides the issue of monthly allowances, students also demanded that classes and students’ residences be evaluated and assessed for maintenance as students’ residences have problems with cold water and busting geysers, which put students’ lives in danger.
