Three weeks into the Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, the Examinations Council of Lesotho’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mokhitli Khoabane says, the examinations are running smoothly.

Dr. Khoabane said that, three major subjects; Sesotho, English and Mathematics, have been completed and that another major subject to be written this week, is Physical Science.

He however stated that, there were challenges encountered last Tuesday with Mathematics paper, where there was a new question paper prepared by ECOL, which students were expected to write on, as part of enhancing marking and keeping trace of alleged lost papers.

He said since not many Principals attended the training on the new Mathematics paper in September, the paper did not receive the anticipated reception therefore, students ended up using the normal, old question paper.

He added that for grade 7 students, examinations have not yet begun but will start next month so that they will close according to this year’s school calendar.
