This came up in an interview with Mrs. Thato Matsipa of the ‘Help our children’ association, which was formed by parents battling with the trauma of their children’s enslavement to drugs. Matsipa says, there is a need for immediate action by all relevant stakeholders towards freeing Basotho youth.

She said that, their hope is to see the justice system awarding worthy sentences to the dealers and that the security agencies, can consider deploying some of their members to hotspot areas, to curb the sale of drugs

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer Senior Superintendent Kabelo Halahala said, theirs as the Police, is to apprehend and bring forth before the courts of laws, suspects in drug dealings but the justice system rules out the way it finds it suitable, showing that, when the suspects are released, they still pose threat to the society.

Senior Superintendent Halahala said, their hope is to see the justice system serving as expected and handing down deserving sentences

Khubetsoana, Lecoop and Sea Point villages are said to be the main hotspots of drugs in the capital Maseru.
