6th SADC Groundwater Conference commences in Maseru today

The 6th SADC Groundwater Conference that commenced in Maseru today, comes at a crucial time when the government of Lesotho is working to see water as a valuable commodity in promoting the country’s economy.

This was said by the Minister of Natural Resources Mr. Mohlomi Moleko who also noted the uniqueness of this country in having abundant water, where it even supplies the neighboring SOUTH AFRICA.

The Minister further commended the country as the host, and expressed gratitude to the SADC delegation present also saying, solutions to challenges facing surface and groundwater, will be attained

On the other hand, the SADC’s Secretariat representative, Ms. ‘Mapolao Mokoena expressed that, SADC has reached milestones in as far as water management is concerned

Mokoena said she hopes the recommendations and knowledge shared during this conference, will allow for further improvements in water affairs between the neighboring countries, the SADC region and beyond

The three-day conference is themed “Promoting Peace Across Border, through Conjunctive Water Management”
