Pastor Peter Matela, a spiritual counsellor, has called on men to take responsibility as protectors of children and women within their families.
Speaking in an interview with this station on International Men’s Day, celebrated worldwide on November 19th, Reverend Matela emphasized the importance of men’s role in family dynamics.
He highlighted that, pastoral counselling for men can significantly improve their mental health, helping them cope with stress, particularly from widespread unemployment.
By participating in such programs, men are better equipped to act as caretakers and protectors, which can reduce the occurrence of domestic violence driven by emotional stress.
In a related comment, small entrepreneur Mrs. Mpho Phakisi noted the crucial role men play in families.
She urged women to avoid discriminating against men who have lost their jobs, as this can exacerbate their emotional challenges and lead to further issues.
