Limited access to drinking water remains a major challenge for 478 pupils of St. Bosco primary school in Liotloaneng, Berea
This surfaced during the ongoing Berea Disaster Management Team awareness campaigns aimed at educating the society about climate change, as well as alerting them about the predicted heavy rains.
St Bosco primary school’s Principal Mrs. ‘Mamalefane Malefane said even though water is a basic need, their school does not have access to clean drinking water, which leaves pupils without an option except accessing it at unprotected sources.
A resident of One of Ha-Masimphane in Liotloaneng Mrs. Malipolelo Molise said, they have been accessing water from unprotected sources and the situation is worse on children.
When approached for comment, Liotloaneng Community councilor Mr. Motaba Koto confirmed the news further saying, though they are trying everything possible to submit their proposals, progress has only been made in other places. He attributed this challenge to financial constraints.
Liotloaneng is situated in Mosalemane constituency.
