Thaba Bosiu Water Woes Worsen with Metolong Dam Project

Around 20 villages in Thaba Bosiu, located in the Metolong area, have been struggling with insufficient water supply since the establishment of the Metolong Dam project, in 2013.

This was revealed by Chief Leloko Mohalenyane during an interview with PC FM earlier today.

Chief Mohalenyane expressed frustration that, despite the Metolong project being based in Thaba Bosiu, the local community has not benefitted from it. He added that, key services such as administrative assistance, are only accessible at Ha-Theko, where the office of the Principal Chief is located.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr. Litlhare Hlehlisi highlighted the severe impact of the water shortage stating that, residents are unable to maintain good hygiene or access sufficient drinking water, particularly during dry seasons.

Responding to the concerns, the Minister of Natural Resources, Mr Mohlomi Moleko assured that, plans to address the water supply issues are underway. He stated that, the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO), is preparing to implement a project to provide water to the affected areas in the near future.
