Heavy rains swept away the footbridge connecting Sizindeni and Thaba-Ts’oeu, Mjanyane area in Quthing

The footbridge that connects the villages of Sizindeni and Thaba-Ts’oeu, Mjanyane area in Quthing is reported to have been swept away during heavy rains currently being experienced in the district.

The Community Councilor for Mjanyane Mrs. Nozak’hele Bohlane said the footbridge that is used by residents and school children was swept away by heavy rains.

He said this situation is worse for students as schools have just re-opened and pupils desperately need to use the bridge on a daily basis.

The Community Councilor further said the rains have also destroyed a foot crossing at Nkomoza in Mjanyane along the main road that connects different areas on Mjanyane Community Council, including Ntozimdande, Sixondo, Dilli-Dilli, Mathole, Dangers’hoek and Mphojoa.

She indicated that this situation had initially been reported to Roads Directorate, when an agreement to make temporary maintenance with stones while awaiting permanent repair was reached, but the crossing continues to fall when it rains.
