Basotho Called for DNA Testing to Identify Miners Killed in South African Mining Disaster

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, is urging  Basotho to come forward for DNA tests; this to assist in the confirmation of the deceased illegal Miners from the Stilfontein and Klerksdorp Mines in SA

In its Release, the ministry said, it is believed that, amongst the 88 deceased illegal Miners from both these Mines, are Basotho Nationals.

Minister Lejone Mpotjoane said, the DNA tests will help ease the affected families to confirm whether their family members are part of the deceased or not. The Minister said the Ministry’s plea is in alignment with SA’s initial announcement that, part of the deceased are Basotho. He confirmed that, the process of DNA tests will begin from tomorrow

In conclusion, The Minster said, any Mosotho who believes their family is part of the deceased illegal miners must report to the following address; 1st Floor Santam Building, 20 Neser Street Klerksdorp or call Canel Jacobs on +27823738216 or Mrs. ‘Matumelo Mosito on 53422205 and Mr. Khotso Ntomane on +27696964734 in Johannesburg
