Mohale’s Hoek Environment Officer in the Ministry of Forestry and Environment Mr. Relebohile Ramokoatsi says, those who are harvesting and selling Pelargonium Sidoides without proper licenses, will face the full might of the law.
Mr. Ramokoatsi stated this following a recent incident, in which trucks bearing South African plate numbers, were spotted at various villages of Senqunyane Community Council buying Pelargonium Sidoides from villagers in multiple bags.
Ramokoatsi said, natural resources need to be utilized in a sustainable way so that they are given time to regenerate noting that, it is about time the Ministry shed some light about the benefits of Pelargonium Sidoides, by convening workshops to various stakeholders.
In conclusion, Ramokoatsi highlighted that, natural resources are protected by law therefore, no foreigner will be allowed to do as they please with Lesotho’s treasures
Perlagonium Sidoides is a commonly known African herb. Its root is used for amongst other ailments, to treat respiratory infections and diarrhoea.
