SWAALES Chair Lament Theft of Farm Fence

The Chairperson of the Society for Women and AIDS in Africa Lesotho-SWAALES Mrs. ‘Mamohatla Ramapepe says, the society was unable to engage in summer cropping for the 2024/2025 season due to the theft of fencing materials used to protect their fields. Mrs. Ramapepe explained that, although the stolen fence was later recovered, it was never reinstalled; leaving the fields vulnerable.

This she said, has directly impacted their feeding programme, as they can no longer produce enough food to cook for and feed their beneficiaries.

She added that, members of the society have resorted to planting crops in their home gardens to supplement food for the programme. However, with the number of active members declining, food production has dropped, forcing them to reduce feeding to once or twice a day.

SWAALES, established in 2007, aims to support and provide food for vulnerable community members affected by HIV and AIDS.
