The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced that, the damaged bridge between Koro-koro and Ha Rantsetse will not be repaired this year, as it was not included in the current financial year’s budget.
This was revealed by the Minister of law and Justice Richard Ramoeletsi, who was delivering a statement on behalf of the Ministry of Public Works in the Senate earlier today. Ramoeletsi added that, the ministry has established a department called Operation Titima, tasked with repairing the country’s most hazardous roads.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of Thaba Bosiu Chiefs, Chief Habokhethoe Theko, urged the House to request that, ministers representing various ministries be accompanied by at least one official from the respective ministry.
He argued that, ministers often lack in-depth knowledge of sectors outside their direct portfolios.
Chief Theko made this call after Minister Ramoeletsi failed to provide satisfactory answers to several questions raised by the chiefs
In response, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ntsokutlane Au, assured the House that, the Senate’s rules would be reviewed to ensure that in future, ministry staff are present alongside ministers, when statements are made in the House.
