Cuts in United States aid have among other things, impacted the multi-million dollar “Bokamoso ba Bana” program, which has for years, provided food aid to various schools in the country.
Reports indicate that, the program was designed to support over 36,000 children from 2022 until 2027.
In an interview with PC FM earlier today, Deputy Principal Secretary Ratsiu Majara confirmed the Ministry’s awareness of this situation. He stated that, the “Bokamoso ba Bana” program operated in Lesotho through Christian Relief Services- CRS, in schools located in Thaba-Tseka, Semonkong and Mokhotlong.
Mr. Majara added that, discussions between CRS and the US government regarding the program’s future are still ongoing. He affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to intervene, should the program be discontinued.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of children’s well-being, both mentally and physically; especially those from vulnerable families.
